Caribbean Greenpreneurs: Nurturing Sustainable Startups

Updated: Feb 20

The Eastern Caribbean Green Entrepreneurship Initiative, known as Caribbean Greenpreneurs, has recently concluded its impactful three-year program aimed at fostering green businesses in the region. Funded by the Qatar Fund for Development and implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute in partnership with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, the initiative provided a 12-week virtual training program for innovative, early-stage micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) with environmentally sustainable business models. Participants received mentorship and had the opportunity to compete for seed funding of up to USD 10,000. Over its duration, the program supported numerous entrepreneurs, contributing to the creation of inclusive green jobs and advancing the region's sustainable development goals. Although the program officially concluded on March 31, 2024, the OECS Competitive Business Unit continues to engage stakeholders and share knowledge to sustain the momentum of green entrepreneurship in the Caribbean.
